Agita
Agita is a Philadelphia-based noise rock three piece. The band consists of Joe on bass and vocals, Garrett on drums, and Eric on guitar and vocals. The group describes their song writing style as “short songs for short attention spans.” The sound is a mix of woozy delirium, and resonant frenzy, all presented in easy to swallow 30 second chunks.
The project began in 2023 after Garrett and Eric, who had played together since high school, ran into Joe at a show and started talking about playing music. With Eric living outside Philadelphia at the time, Agita initially formed as a two piece drum and bass noise project, focused more on improvisation. In 2025, Eric relocated to Philadelphia and joined on guitar, expanding the band into its current form. This lineup solidified the material that would become their debut album, Commercials.
The album was recorded and mixed by Joe using an 8 track recorder. Drums were tracked in a kitchen and guitar recorded in a bathroom. A vintage Western Electric microphone was taped to the floor and used as a room mic, contributing to the record’s unique unstable sound. The album was mastered by Tad Doyle at Witch Ape Studios. Members have previously been involved in projects including Humo, Capital K, and Top of Tola.
All proceeds benefit Juntos. Vamos Juntos is a community-led, Latine immigrant organization in South Philadelphia fighting for our human rights as workers, parents, youth, and immigrants.
