Osmia

Osmia

Osmia started in 2014 as a solo recording project by Leo Coronado while living in Portland Or. The project quickly turned into a band and recorded 2 eps before Leo moved to Eureka, Ca where 2 more recordings were made.

The band is now located in Midcoast Maine and current members are Leo Coronado (guitar/vocals), Eric Kempke (bass/guitar/vocals) and Jason Dean (drums/percussion).

Cult Country was self recorded by the band with Eric at the helm of the mixing dials. Initial full band sessions began in late fall of 2025, but had to get done quickly before the harsh Maine winters set into the studio which was not heated year round.

The emotion behind this recording is drawn from the traumatic experience of surviving in the current times of greed, fascism, racism, misogyny, exploitation and psychological torture of marginalized communities.

“What lingers is the sense of conviction behind all of it. Plenty of protest music announces its politics and forgets to be music. Osmia does the opposite: they build the room first, then let the anger and grief move around inside it. ‘Cult Country’ is not an easy album, nor does it want to be. But it is an honest one, made by three people and a few trusted collaborators who needed to say something before the cold shut the door.” – Big Takeover
