The effects utilize a combination of obviously handmade props along with what im pretty sure is real guts, gore and viscera. “Set in northern California, The Fog has a damp, haunting mystique unique to the northwestern part of the Pacific coastline. While not exactly Washington, the long coastal shots and haunting soundtrack evoke a dark, ominous feeling that the comes every year with the dark season in the PNW. Lendzian: The House Of The Devil (2009)

“This is maybe the only movie I’ve ever had to pause because the tension was too much to handle. It’s filmed in this incredible recreation of 80s horror cinematography, but it’s so much more than retro pastiche. It’s just you and the agents of Satan in a big, quiet house.”

But when I learned the story centers around giant infected guy with a huge hog I had to finally give it a watch. “I don’t know what it is about this flick, but my wife and I watched it every night in bed for a year or something. It may be cheesy or tame by some standards, and sure, probably. The obsession can’t be explained.
Our obvious choice should probably be Texas chainsaw massacre (1974) as drummer Jason and myself saw it on the big screen for its 53rd anniversary and it’s still effective and frightening. Anyhow… Mr. Sardonicus… Watch it every night for a year and get back to me.”

Is little Jamie delusional, disturbed, or just misunderstood? Whatever the case, you probably don’t wanna follow him into the woods! Thank you, Canada!

The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999)
What sounds like the most unnecessary sequel to a Stephen King adaptation is actually pretty perfect, with Carrie White’s lil sis getting in touch with her demonic DNA and laying waste to her dirtbag jock classmates (to a nu metal soundtrack). Thank you, 1999!”

Truculent: The Beyond (1981)

“One of the best Fulci movies, whole thing is paced like your being hypnotized the ending has an eeriness that’s really difficult to describe. Sort of a cross between Heart Of Glass (1976) and Amityville (1979) with a Fabio Frizzi soundtrack. Maybe that’s giving it to much credit. It’s the second in the Gates of Hell trilogy and is pretty much always overshadowed by House By The Cemetery (1981) typical middle child issues.”
